Why Buy Original Art?
In today’s market a person can find a large array of prints, copies and manufactured pieces of decor. But buying the ordinary will never give the purchaser the advantages and satisfaction that are gained when purchasing original fine art. A wide variety of artwork is available, making the personal choice an enduring expression of style. A person’s choice will evoke emotion whenever he views the work of art or when others admire the acquisition. These feelings would never be as strong for a mere print or manufactured reproduction. Fine art deserves pride of ownership.
To be a purchaser of an original work of art makes one a “patron of the arts.” The art buyer motivates and enables the artist to continue to produce and ensures that galleries and shows will remain in existence. The buyer of art gives encouragement and financial support to the visual arts and the culture of the community. The art world needs the support of those who value art.
Invest in valuable artwork to enjoy now and leave a legacy of art to heirs. A person who enjoys fine art will instill a respect for art in loved ones. Remember a picture at Grandma’s house or in one’s childhood home? Memories of tomorrow are made today and the future generations will thank and appreciate the relative who purchases fine art. As a bonus, there is always the chance the work of art will increase in value over time making the buyer a wise investor.
A one-of-a-kind piece of art makes a conversation piece for the home or place of business. Showing something unique makes things interesting and expresses individual style and taste.
Whether a person chooses a sculpture, a painting, pottery, or another art medium, and whether it is abstract, realistic, impressionistic or another admired style, the advantages of the acquisition will be evident. The buyer will feel wonderful emotions, become an art patron, invest in the future, and reflect personal taste. To buy an item created by the hands of an artist is pleasurable and ensures many benefits for years to come.
Artist Statement
I love to use scraps, rusted things, broken things and the things that you would find on the side of the road in my work. Sometimes I’ll find objects already arranged in a shape that I like; nature has a way of collecting objects into artistic piles and this is sometimes where I find my favorite forms. I’ll spend hours working and re-working a piece until I feel that it’s ready for finishing. I never send anything out until I’m completely satisfied with it’s form and finish. I care passionately about my pieces, they’re like my offspring, I love to see them develope and I hate to see them go, the entire process is costly emotionally. I think that the main reason that I love art is because when I’m working I feel a release of pressure, it’s a time where I can communicate my innermost frustrations as well as my most passionate feelings of joy without any words. The finished product is simply a recording of that process.
